Advertising and Cookies (when enabled)
When Google AdSense advertising is enabled, this app offers non-personalized ads only to verified eligible free-tier accounts on Discover, and only after the displayed profile content passes an ad-suitability check. Paid subscribers are not offered these placements. Matches, Explore, private messaging, full profiles, feeds, account pages, privacy pages, and public information pages have no ad placements.
Discover's ad-suitability screening uses OpenAI to assess the profile text and primary photos in that feed. Private messages, identity-review materials, and dedicated contact-detail fields are not submitted for this advertising review. Information that members include in their public profile text is part of that screening. If content is unreviewed, uncertain, unsupported, or cannot be checked, it remains visible but advertising stays disabled. AI screening can make mistakes and does not guarantee Google's approval.
Before loading Google's advertising and consent tools, we ask an eligible member for advertising permission. Loading those tools contacts Google, even before an ad appears. Ad requests remain paused until Google's consent checks also allow them. Leaving an ad-loaded page, changing its reviewed content, or losing eligibility starts a fresh document so its advertising runtime does not carry over to unreviewed content or other app screens.
Members can withdraw the app's advertising permission on this Privacy page; withdrawing clears the local permission and reloads the page. Choosing not to allow ads does not prevent use of the service. This app permission is separate from Google's consent-management choices and does not revoke those vendor choices; use the configured Google consent message's privacy controls to change them.
A Google-certified consent management platform (CMP) integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework is required for personalized ads in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Non-personalized ads still require consent for cookies or similar storage where the law requires it. Our in-app permission is not a substitute for required consent. This app keeps placements disabled unless its configured Google consent check allows them.
Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar identifiers, process IP addresses, and measure interactions with ads. Non-personalized ads may still use cookies for delivery, frequency limits, and reporting. This app requests non-personalized ads and does not pass members' beliefs, interest selections, or profile details as advertising targeting parameters.
Changing the app's advertising permission requires JavaScript and a signed-in account. Google advertising scripts do not load when JavaScript is disabled.
If we enable additional advertising vendors, we will identify them here and provide links to their privacy and available opt-out information.
